English is a funny language, what with words like which and witch, and wind meaning to turn something and also a type of weather. Still, I can’t understand how someone thought my siblings and I were the type of litter that you threw away.

My name is Samson and I’m here with my brother Sabre. We are the last two of a litter of tiny ridgeback cross puppies found at a rubbish dump. We are now 12-week-old boys with very sweet natures who will be quite large dogs and wonderful family pets. If you’re looking for a dog and are not the sort of person who would ever mistake living creatures for pieces of rubbish then we’d sure love to meet you!

The Whangarei SPCA at a glance

We are open 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 7pm Thursdays, Saturday 9am to 12.30pm and Sunday 9am to 12.30pm. Our centre is located on Kioreroa Road, next to the Re:Sort centre and Cowleys

The area we cover (our inspectorate) stretches all the way north to Towai, south to Te Hana, and west to Tangiteroria

Around 3000 animals are brought to our centre each year and each year we investigate around – 500-600 animal abuse complaints

We receive a small amount of funding from the Government towards welfare investigations, but no financial help from Whangarei District Council, the Northland Regional Council and are not eligible for Lotteries Grants

We could not exist without volunteers and donations from the public!

Adoption Special

6th - 10th September
One week only, we'll be open from 9am - 8pm. Adoption prices for the week - Cats $20, Kittens $35, Dogs over 6 months $30, Pups under 6 months $50.
Adoption fee includes desexing, vet check, first vaccination, microchipping, ears tattooed, wormed and deflea'd. We have so many beautiful animals waiting to be adopted, we want them to go to their forever homes.
